Adult Support Meetings

The monthly adult support group meeting is a time for meaningful dialogue and to share deeply about the issues related to ADHD that affect your lives and the lives of those you love. Mark your calendars for the third Wednesday of each month. All meetings at: 7 PM Classroom A, University of Alberta Hospital, 8440 – 112 Street NW, Edmonton. Directions to Classroom A. The Partner Support Group will meet in Classroom A and then proceed downstairs to the cafeteria. We will return to Classroom A at 8:55. We look forward to seeing you there.

Parent Support Meetings

There is a regular parent support group meeting on the first Wednesday of each month at the Misericordia Hospital. All meetings at: 7 PM Room #B-016 (Basement) Misericordia Hospital, 16940 – 87 Avenue, Edmonton.

April 1, 2015: Karen Popal will talk about programs available through LD Edmonton. Karen Popal is the program coordinator at Learning Disabilities Association of Edmonton and the parent of two children with ADHD. She is an advocate speaker, active volunteer, including establishing ADHD support groups. Karen was a member of the board of directors of the Learning Disabilities Association of Alberta before joining LD Edmonton.

Free Teleseminar: ADD / ADHD, Work and You

Tuesday January 20, 2015* / 7:00 to 8:00 pm MST (Edmonton time)

Does ADD / ADHD get in the way of your success at work? Join ADHD coach and experienced Human Resources Manager Laura Rolands in a Teleseminar about ADD /ADHD in the workplace. Using simple and practical strategies, Laura will teach you how to handle tough conversations with your boss, boost your productivity, find useful resources and manage the the overall chaos that often comes with ADD / ADHD at work. There will also be plenty of time to answer your questions. Space is limited, so register as soon as you can.

*Don’t worry if you can’t make the live Teleseminar! If you register before the start of the Teleseminar you will be able to listen to the recording free for 1 week.

Life Project Program for Teens Struggling in High School

LD Edmonton’s next Life Project Program starts on January 27, 2015. Designed to help youth ages 13 to 17 overcome barriers to success, the Life Project focusses on fun, giving participants the opportunity to explore communication strategies, improve emotional intelligence and develop methods to create healthy relationships. Study time will be provided and participants will have the opportunity to develop learning strategies through low ratio homework help. Check out their website for more information.

Foothills Academy / PD Sessions for Teachers

Through the Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium, Foothills Academy’s Kim Tackaberry is giving a workshop in Edmonton called Building Reading Comprehension through Visualization. A little bit later this year, Kim & another staff member, Les Redick, will be doing two-part webinars on:
